Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Laurel Lee (FL-15) questioned witnesses at the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing, and Trade Hearing titled, “Moving the Goalposts: How NIL is Reshaping College Athletics.” This hearing was held to address the landscape of name, image, and likeness (NIL) issues in college athletics.

Tampa, F.L. – Today, Congresswoman Laurel Lee (FL-15) participated in the official grand opening of Tampa International Airport’s (TPA) new and expanded Airside E Security Checkpoint. Last year, Congresswoman Lee led a joint effort with other Tampa Bay Area Congressional leaders to secure funding for brand new Transportation Security Administration (TSA) security screening equipment for the 19,542-square-foot security checkpoint.

Washington, D.C. – Today, Representatives Laurel Lee (FL-15) and Gabe Evans (CO-08) introduced the DHS Intelligence and Analysis Oversight and Transparency Act. This bill will require the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Office of Intelligence and Analysis (I&A) to audit bulk data transferred to or from I&A to assess whether personnel’s access to and searches conducted are appropriately limited to protect American’s civil liberties, right to privacy, and civil rights.

Today, Congresswoman Laurel Lee (FL-15) and Congresswoman Chris Pappas (NH-1) introduced the bipartisan, bicameral Overcoming Prevalent Inadequacies in Overdose Information Data Sets (OPIOIDS) Act which will assist law enforcement in collecting information on fentanyl and fentanyl-related substances. This legislation will increase training for state and local law enforcement officers, update systems used for drug tracing, and provide federal grants for training and resources to stop secondary drug exposure to first responders.

Today, Congresswoman Laurel Lee (FL-15) released the following statement after the House passed H.R. 27, the HALT Fentanyl Act. This legislation will empower law enforcement to crack down on drug traffickers by permanently classifying fentanyl analogues, which are fentanyl-related substances, as Schedule I drugs.
