Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Laurel Lee (FL-15) announced that the 2025 Congressional Art Competition is officially open for all high school students who live in Florida’s 15th District. The Congressional Art Competition is a nationwide contest to highlight talented young artists from high schools across the country.

Today, Congresswoman Laurel Lee (FL-15) reintroduced the Prison Staff Safety Enhancement Act to end the epidemic of sexual assaults on prison staff by inmates within the prison system.  According to a February 2023 report by the U.S. Department of Justice Office of the Inspector General (DOJ OIG), a staggering 40% of 7,000 surveyed Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) staff stated they had been sexually harassed or sexually assaulted by an inmate.

The House Administration Committee manages the daily operations that keep the House of Representatives running smoothly, conducts oversight over legislative branch functions, and has jurisdiction over federal elections.

Today, Congresswoman Laurel Lee (FL-15) questioned witnesses at the House Energy and Commerce Environment Subcommittee’s hearing entitled, "A Decade Later: Assessing the Legacy and Impact of the Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act." The hearing examined the importance of chemicals for modern life and the American economy. The chemical industry generates $633 billion in annual revenues, employs 554,000 Americans in high-skill jobs, and supports more than a quarter of U.S. GDP.
