Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Laurel Lee (R-FL), questioned Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Christopher Wray during the Homeland Security Committee’s hearing entitled, "Worldwide Threats to the Homeland." The hearing examined global threats to the U.S. homeland and our security interests abroad.

Washington, D.C. – Today, Rep. Laurel Lee (R-FL) and Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (D-WA) introduced the CBP SPACE Act to ensure Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and seaports are partners in securing trade and travel. Recently, CBP has threatened to cease operations if ports do not pay for screening equipment, putting our national security at risk.

Washington, D.C. – Today, Rep. Laurel Lee (R-FL) released the following statement after her bill, the National Human Trafficking Hotline Enhancement Act, passed out of the House Judiciary Committee by a voice vote. This legislation would require entities that contract with the National Human Trafficking Hotline to cooperate with state and local law enforcement when receiving tips through the Hotline.

Laurel Lee (FL-15) questioned witnesses during the Homeland Security Committee’s full hearing entitled, “An Examination of the Iranian Regime’s Threats to Homeland Security.” This hearing examined the threats Iran poses to our nation’s security following the horrific attacks by Iranian-backed Hamas terrorists on our ally, Israel.

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Laurel Lee (R-FL) highlighted the cost of Democrats’ soft-on-crime policies during the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime and Federal Government Surveillance hearing entitled, “Victims of Violent Crime in the District of Columbia.” This hearing examined the rise of violent crime in Washington, D.C., and the lack of accountability and prosecutions of criminals.

Washington, D.C. –House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) has appointed Congresswoman Laurel Lee (R-FL) to serve as a Conferee to the Fiscal Year 2024 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The NDAA sets the military’s fiscal year (FY) funding levels and provides for national security and military priorities.
