Today, Representatives Laurel Lee (R-FL) and Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA) were joined by nine House colleagues in urging House Speaker Mike Johnson and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries as well as leaders of the Committee on House Administration to provide training on the proper handling of confidential information for all members of Congress beginning with the 119th Congress in January 2025. Presently, new and returning Congress members may opt-in to receive just one hour of training.

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Laurel Lee (R-FL), U.S. Senators John Cornyn (R-TX) and Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), and Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (FL-25) introduced their Renewed Hope Act, which would enhance the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s capabilities to better identify, rescue, and protect victims of online child sexual exploitation and bring perpetrators to justice.

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Laurel Lee (FL-15) and Congressman Glenn Ivey (MD-4) introduced the Protection of Child Victims from Online Predators Act, a bipartisan bill that will amend title 18 of the U.S. Code to expressly clarify that a “notice” or “advertisement” seeking or offering child pornography can occur within a private, one-on-one communication.

Today, House Homeland Security Committee Republicans introduced legislation to combat growing cyber threats from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) against our critical infrastructure. Representative Laurel Lee (R-FL) introduced legislation to establish an interagency task force led by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to address the cybersecurity threats posed by state-sponsored cyber actors associated with the People’s Republic of China (PRC), including Volt Typhoon.

We are now accepting applications for the 2024 Veteran of the Year Award!

Criteria

  • Must be an HONORABLY discharged veteran of one of the five Armed Forces of the United States, including Reserve or National Guard, or United States Merchant Marines.  
  • Nominated Veterans must live within Florida's 15th Congressional District, which encompasses parts of Hillsborough, Polk, and Pasco Counties.   
  • Must be able to supply a DD-214.

Sakamuri, a student at Middleton High School, was inspired to create VeteranCare to fulfill a need he noticed within our local veteran population. VeteranCare serves as a centralized hub for our nation’s veterans to find information on benefits, resources, and community support.
