Rep. Laurel Lee’s E&C Question Series on Regulation Effects on Florida Agriculture

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Laurel Lee (FL-15) questioned witnesses at the House Energy and Commerce Environment Subcommittee’s hearing entitled, "A Decade Later: Assessing the Legacy and Impact of the Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act." The hearing examined the importance of chemicals for modern life and the American economy. The chemical industry generates $633 billion in annual revenues, employs 554,000 Americans in high-skill jobs, and supports more than a quarter of U.S. GDP.
Florida's 15th District is home to a vibrant agriculture industry, including specialty crops and livestock. The shortcomings of our current regulatory mechanisms often affect our agriculture industry as well.
