Rep. Laurel Lee: Border Security is National Security
Washington, D.C. – Yesterday, Congresswoman Laurel Lee (R-FL) participated in Homeland Security Committee’s Full Committee hearing to examine Secretary Mayorkas’ border crisis. Since October, Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) have seized over 8,600 pounds of fentanyl across the southern border—enough to kill over 1.9 billion people.
“Since President Biden took office, one simple fact has become clearer and clearer every day—border security is national security,” said Rep. Laurel Lee. “This is an issue that affects each one of our communities and this is an issue that is endangering our neighborhoods, families, and children.
“Not far from my own community, authorities in Polk County, Florida recently confiscated 11 pounds of fentanyl. Following this drug bust, Florida’s Attorney General announced that authorities had seized enough fentanyl in just a few months to kill every Floridan. We must secure our southern border before more American lives are lost” continued Rep. Lee.
