Congresswoman Laurel Lee (FL-15) Sworn in to 118th Congress

Washington, D.C. – Early this morning, Congresswoman Laurel Lee (R-FL) was sworn in to the 118th Congress by the Speaker of the House as the United States Representative from Florida's 15th Congressional District. 

“It is a great honor and privilege to be entrusted by the constituents of Florida’s 15th District to represent them in Washington. I am proud to take the oath of office to serve and ensure their voice is heard,” said Rep. Lee. “I look forward to delivering solutions over the next two years for our families, small businesses, seniors, and veterans. To the men and women of FL-15, thank you for the opportunity to represent you. I promise that I will work diligently to put policies in place to promote job growth, secure our border, and bolster our economic security.” 

Background:

Congresswoman Laurel Lee was elected U.S. Congresswoman for the 118th Congress representing the newly drawn 15thDistrict of Florida which encompasses eastern Hillsborough County, and parts of Pasco and Polk Counties.  

Prior to her election to the U.S. House of Representatives, Lee served as Florida’s 36th Secretary of State for Governor Ron DeSantis from January 2019 to May 2022. During her tenure, she worked to strengthen Florida’s elections infrastructure and cybersecurity defenses and ensured accurate and secure elections in the state. Prior to serving in the DeSantis Administration, Lee served as a Circuit Court Judge in Florida’s Thirteenth Judicial Court in Hillsborough County, appointed by then-Governor Rick Scott. Before becoming a judge, she served as a federal prosecutor for the United States Attorney’s Office in the Middle District of Florida.  

Raised by a two-star general in the United States Air Force and a public school teacher, Lee has family ties to eastern Hillsborough County that go back more than 70 years.
