Ready to Work for Florida’s 15th District
Last week, I was honored to be sworn in as your Congresswoman for the 15th District of Florida for the 118th Congress. I was sent to Washington to be the voice for the entire 15th District and to represent your values and beliefs.
Two months ago, the American people voted for change—change that comes with the promise of an economy that’s strong, a nation that’s safe, a future built on freedom, and government that is accountable. This is the commitment that House Republicans promised, and I was entrusted by you to fulfill this promise in Congress. I am focused on working in a bipartisan fashion that will bring meaningful change to our communities.
Our economic system allows for all Americans to pursue economic prosperity, but recently, record-high inflation and taxes have made it increasingly hard for families and small businesses to succeed. To get our economy back on track, we must remove the red tape that continues to harm our small businesses and curb wasteful government spending. Additionally, to lower the cost of gas and grocery prices, we must make America energy independent. House Republicans will work to implement policies that restore our domestic energy production, starting with the renewal of the Keystone Pipeline and enacting an environmentally safe and efficient permitting process for future drilling. This in turn lowers the costs of energy, reduces our reliance on our foreign adversaries for our energy needs, and protects our national security.
One of my top priorities, and that of the Republican majority, is to support our men and women in blue. As a former judge and prosecutor, I have seen firsthand the role our law enforcement plays in our criminal justice system and their tireless work to keep our communities safe. Congress can support our police by supporting policies that build trust between our police and communities—and House Republicans are committed to doing just that.
This week, I voted for one of the very first bills brought to the House floor, which repealed funding for 87,000 new IRS agents. Government should work for the people, not against them. That means preserving our constitutional freedoms, conducting oversight to reign in the government’s abuse of power, and restoring the people’s voice to maintain a government of the people, by the people, and for the people. My experience as a judge and a federal prosecutor taught me the importance of an accountable government to preserve our nation’s constitutional freedoms and trust among its citizens. I will work diligently to ensure our freedoms are protected and to provide real transparency for the American people.
During my tenure as Florida’s Secretary of State, I saw firsthand the value of serving constituents. If you need help with a federal agency, our office may be able to help resolve a problem or get you the information you need. Please call (202) 225-5626 or visit my website to submit a casework request.
Floridians are tired of the status quo in Washington, which is more often focused on partisan bickering than problem-solving. I have built my career around results, not theatre, and I will carry on this approach in Congress.
The year ahead presents the opportunity to come together and work on finding common-sense solutions for all Americans. I am honored that you have entrusted me to be your voice in Washington, and I am ready to roll up my sleeves and get to work on behalf of the 15th District of Florida.
